Two Tone Vest, House, Dinner! :)

So today I decided to try to crochet something hard!  I'm trying for a two-tone vest...you can find the pattern at: http://caron.com/projects/ss/ss_2tone_vest.html

This involves a lot of counting, which is not my forte....so I figured I mind as well practice. I think it's going pretty well so far, but we'll see how big it comes out...

This part took me about 2 hours I'd say...I was watching...oh dear I didn't anticipate revealing my stupid show of the day....oh well. I watched about 8 episodes of Gossip Girl...and I totally loved it--it's kinda like Secret Life of the American Teenager...my other guilty pleasure. LOL.

We also checked out a house today we're hoping to be renting very soon!! It's sooo cute! :) It's a duplex in a older little neighborhood.

I really like this house! Hardwood floors throughout, Closests!!!!, and I love the fireplace with the mantel...perfect for those stockings I crocheted for Christmas last year! :)

After checking out the house I drove over to the Mellow Mushroom to meet Daniel for dinner--he got held up at work and couldn't go look at the house with me.

We had double pepperoni pizza and the parmesean pretzels! :) Dan had his two beers for the week!

Great day! :)

Hats!

I've finally had some hat orders come in! :) These are 3 of the 4 hats I've made so far. I just need to make a blue and white one, but they are all the same basic design. I love making hats because once I learned the basics of increasing and decreasing, then I just went with it...so no patterns for these hats my friends, I like to make hats up on the fly...

You get the idea! :) If you are interested in a hat, I need to know the basic size of the person it's for and what colors you'd like. I can get *ALMOST* any color...for kids the hats range from $5-7 and for adults $7-10...plus shipping if they are going out of town/state....

Much Love.

Felting! :)

Today was the much anticipcated Felting class at the Knowles Center. Small class, but had a lot of fun with everyone!

I made a coffee cozie:

A change purse:

A bag that needs to be sewn and two coasters:

Then we took some fiber and made a ball:

We also used the fiber to cover soap:

I wanted to make wrist warmers, but I didn't. They're easy to make though.

I made another cozie and I needle felted the two coasters, but the battery on the camera died...of course! So I'll have to add those pictures in when I can take them. The coasters are monogramed with a "B" and I made another cozie that has a needle punched heart! It's super cute! :)

....Got wool?

SPINDLE! :)

So I went over to Home Depot and got the supplies, this was incredibly easy! I'm serious! I had enough to make 2 spindles for about $6. I'm having trouble attaching the hooks at the top, but that's what husbands are for, right?!

Soo....I kinda broke the first part of dowel rod I was cutting--it happens. This was definately easy enough that I can always go get another piece of dowel rod to fix it. I'm meeting with Christina tomorrow morning for a short lesson on spinning...then taking the 2nd Saturday Classes at the Knowles Center--felting, which is also something I've been wanting to try! :) I'm getting all kinds of new lessons and crafts this week! It's been so much fun! :) :) :)

Much Love.

Chilly Morning! Brrrrrrr

I'm currently in the middle of 3 different granny blankets, I thought I'd be done with the blue one yesterday, but I think it needs one more skein...until then I'm working on the green one I started a few weeks ago and the purple one I started when I ran out of green. LOL.

I also have a few hats I need to get going on...but hats don't take that long, maybe an hour each at best. I think I'll work on those later today, I need to figure out what style I want the hats to be. They're requested for sale, yay! :)

I finally used the livingsocial deal my bff Michele got me...haha waited until 11:30pm the night before it expired to actually use it, I grabbed some clipart from online and designed a stamp and tote! Can't wait for them to get here, but totally wasn't willing to pay $11 for shipping, so i can expect them here in "21 days"...but I think it'll go faster!

I'm excited for them to get here! :) :) :)  I also think I might attempted to make my own drop spindle today, I mean home depot is literally across the street...in fact, I might head that way soon! I've been checking out some of the pictures some old friends from h.s. have on facebook and I'm elated to see how many of them are super crafty! Everyone seems to have their own craft and everyone has really impressive stuff! It's fun to reconnect and see what everyone else is making!

Sometime this weekend or maybe next week I'm going to be working on some covers for the throw pillows in the living room. I have the fabric, zippers, and thread...I just have to find a sewing machine and someone to help me operate it...I think the fabric is super fun:

I guess I figure if I'm going to be off work for a while I mind as well Martha Stewart it up! :) I found the middle pattern and the right pattern first and it took me forever to come up with a 3rd choice, but that's where Michele came in and helped me! :) yay!

This is one of the pillows I am going to recover:

They are just getting a little ratty and Sadie's little nails pull at the material and it's pilling and yah, not looking so great...It should look like this when finished:

I think it's going to be fun!!! Hope everyone is having a HAPPY FRIDAY! :)

Much Love.

spinning

I was at my group last night and got to talking to some of the ladies about spinning. I'm very curious about it and I think it would be a lot of fun...since I'm not sure how I will do at this, I don't want to put a TON of $ into it...so far I've found a website to make a spinner at home: http://www.spindleandwheel.com/content/view/15/76/
...which I might start with until I figure out if this is something I really want to branch into...I'm positive the Home Depot across the street from my house would have the materials to make the spinner, now I just have to figure out where to get fiber...def something I don't know ANYTHING about. I think it would be a lot of fun to make my own yarn though, or better yet, gift to family and friends who knit and/or crochet. I guess we'll see! :)

Much Love.
